Code of conduct

Holistic Notion aims to adhere to the highest professional standards of natural healthcare delivery.  David Haubenschild is registered with the Australian Register of Homeopaths (AROH), the industry registration body, and is a professional member of the Australian Homeopathic Association (AHA), both of which set professional standards in-line with community expectations, and state and national laws.

The national Code of Conduct sets the standard for Homeopaths and other non-AHPRA registered practitioners.  In summary, this is to:

  1. Provide services in a safe and ethical manner
  2. Obtain consent from their clients
  3. Display appropriate conduct when giving treatment advice
  4. Report concerns about treatment or care provided by other health care workers
  5. Take appropriate action in response to adverse events
  6. Adopt standard precautions for infection control
  7. Practice safely if diagnosed with infectious medical conditions
  8. Not make claims to cure certain serious illnesses
  9. Not misinform their clients
  10. Not practice under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  11. Modify or stop practicing if they have certain mental or physical impairments
  12. Not financially exploit clients
  13. Not engage in sexual misconduct
  14. Comply with relevant privacy laws
  15. Keep appropriate records
  16. Be covered by appropriate insurance
  17. Display information about this code and how to make a complaint.

Privacy & personal information

It is the nature of healthcare to collect and handle personal health information.  However, we do this in a respectful and lawful manner.  In summary, this means:

  • We’ll only collect information is necessary for to provide the service, and with your consent.
  • We’ll only use the information for the primary purpose for which the information was collected, or for a directly related and reasonably expected secondary purpose.
  • We take reasonable steps to ensure the health information held is accurate, complete, up-to-date and relevant.
  • We take measures to protect health information from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
  • We retain health information for the period of time set out under law.
  • The privacy policy is available so your know what information is held about them, why it’s being held and how their information is collected, stored, used and disclosed.
  • You, as a client, have a right to access and correct any health information held about you. (The organisation may, in some circumstances, refuse to provide access to health information or to correct it. If so, the organisation must provide written reasons for the refusal.)
  • We used identifiers (e.g. patient identification numbers), if this is reasonably necessary to function efficiently.
  • As far as it is lawful and practicable, individuals should have the opportunity to maintain their anonymity.
  • When health information travels outside Victoria, we take responsibility to ensure that the privacy of the information is safeguarded.
  • Upon your request, we will make information you available to another health service provider (e.g. for a referral).

Complaints

If you are not satisfied with our service, please contact us. We take complaints seriously and aim to resolve them quickly and fairly.

If you remain dissatisfied with our response, you may contact the Health Complaints Commissioner (HCC). The HCC responds to complaints about health services and the handling of health information in Victoria. Their service is free, confidential and impartial. To lodge a complaint with the HCC:

  • Fill out a complaint form online at hcc.vic.gov.au or
  • Phone 1300 582 113 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday to discuss your complaint.

Cancellation policy

Holistic Notion has a 24 hour cancellation policy. Any cancellations that occur 24 hours or more before the scheduled time are able to be re-booked at no additional cost to the client.

If you miss your appointment, or cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged the full price of your appointment.
